“Celebrating Every Life” Miscarriage Group
This group serves to assist participants in furthering resolution of the death of a child by miscarriage, still birth or newborn. A safe, sacred space is created in order for participants to lean into the grief, which facilitates integration. As we know “loss touches loss.” Bereaved parents need a safe person and/or place to talk about their baby and the feelings they are experiencing. We provide parents a safe place to talk about their baby and the feelings they are experiencing and allow them to be heard without being judged or given unwanted advice.
Psycho-education on grief and integration is provided, offering hope for the future. Myths and inaccurate messages about grief are dispelled, helping to normalize feelings. Thinking processes are explored, as well as patterns of destructive behavior following trauma and other loss. Parents can talk openly about the pregnancy, the birth, and any future plans or dreams they may be missing. Feelings and words left unsaid are released through experiential exercises. Issues pertaining to relational problems are addresses, with an emphasis on recognizing emotional reactions to loss, trauma, and broken dreams.
