Adolescent Grief Support Group – OPEN GROUP!

Adolescent Grief Support Group

This group serves to assist adolescents ages 12 to 18 in furthering resolution surrounding the death of a family member or friend. A safe, sacred space is created in order for adolescents to lean into their grief, which facilitates healing. As we know “loss touches loss,” so participants will have the opportunity to share with one another their memories, feelings and experiences in a supportive environment.

Psycho-education on grief and integration is provided, offering hope for the future. Myths and inaccurate messages about grief are dispelled, helping to normalize feelings. Thinking processes are explored, as well as patterns of destructive behavior following loss. Feelings and words left unsaid are released through experiential exercises. Issues pertaining to relational problems are addresses, with an emphasis on recognizing emotional reactions to loss.
