Communication and Connection

Most couple therapists would agree that a high percentage of their clients who show up in their office would like to improve their communication. Maybe a couple’s main counseling goal is resolving conflict more effectively and respectfully. Perhaps they desire to connect more deeply as they build their sense of sexual intimacy. Or, it is possible a couple wants to work toward being on the same page with their finances.

Whether verbally or nonverbally we say a lot to our partner every day. And we can always get better at it. Most of our daily interactions significantly impact our emotional connection: our sense of feeling close to each other through a variety of thoughts, feelings, actions and activities.

This Communication and Connection class will help participants:

  • Clearly hear each other to get (and stay) on the same page
  • Gain deeper understanding of yourself and others
  • Identify when and how to take a break as issues escalate
  • Learn about primary emotions imbedded underneath surface emotions and behavioral actions
  • Engage in deeper, more meaningful interactions!

Who should attend?

This class is appropriate for individuals and couples ages 18-99. Need not presently be in a romantic relationship to benefit. Participants will learn and practice how to understand and engage in deeper communication in interpersonal romantic relationships, with coworkers and supervisors, and friends and family members.
